How are sleep characteristics related to cardiovascular health?: Results from the population-based HypnoLaus study
Journal of the American Heart Association Mar 29, 2019
Häusler N, et al. - IIn a population-based sample with 1,826 subjects, researchers examined the link between sleep traits (measured by polysomnography and sleep questionnaires) and cardiovascular health (CVH). They calculated relative risk ratios and 95% CI by performing multinomial logistic regressions. They found an association of CVH with mean oxygen saturation, oxygen desaturation index, and apnea/hypopnea index, but no consistent link was observed between the majority of variables related to sleep architecture and sleep fragmentation and CVH. The association of sleep-disordered breathing and the linked oxygen (de)saturation with CVH was stronger vs sleep fragmentation.
