Hospital treatment costs and length of stay associated with hypertension and multimorbidity after hemorrhagic stroke
BMC Neurology Aug 14, 2017
Specogna AV, et al. – Objectives of this study were to explain how hypertension and other patient morbidities affect the length of stay, and hospital treatment costs after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) using primary and simulated data, also to illustrate the association between cost and length of stay within these patients. After ICH, patient multimorbidity was a strong predictor of longer stay and cost, particularly hypertension. Also, the non–linear association between cost and time had to be considered when predicting healthcare spending in these patients.
