Hospital mortality in acute coronary syndrome: Adjustment of GRACE score by D-dimer enables a more accurate prediction in a prospective cohort study
BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Nov 20, 2019
Yu T, Jiao Y, Song J, et al. - Whether D-dimer and its combination with The Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) score may provide a valuable tool to predict in-hospital death in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), was investigated in this study including a total of 5,923 ACS patients receiving PCI. Researchers found that significant prediction of in-hospital mortality could be afforded by D-dimer following multivariable adjustment. In this study, D-dimer was identified as an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality in patients undergoing PCI for ACS. Also, improved prognostic performance of the GRACE score could be achieved with the help of D-dimer in these patients.
