Hospital evaluation of health literacy and associated outcomes in patients after acute myocardial infarction

American Heart Journal Sep 15, 2017

Rymer JA, et al. — This analysis examined how frequently (routinely, selectively, or never) 122 hospitals in the TRANSLATE-ACS study screened patients with MI for low health literacy and then compared rates of drug compliance, 1-year MACE, and all-cause readmission against those findings. Researchers found that while 41% of these hospitals never screened patients for low health literacy, those that did reported higher levels of compliance and lower levels of readmission after MI.
