Histomorphologic spectrum of germline-related and sporadic BAP-1 Inactivated Melanocytic Tumors
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology May 24, 2018
Garfield EM, et al. - Researchers ascertained the spectrum of histomorphologic findings in BAP-1 inactivated melanocytic lesions to improve their recognition. They also ascertained the frequency of sporadic vs germline cases, evaluating if any features were statistically linked to germline status. Results demonstrated the germline mutations in approximately 12% of patients with BIMTs. Additional indications for germline testing could be extensive junctional involvement in a BAP-1 inactivated melanocytic tumors (BIMTs), a personal history of melanoma or previous BIMT.
