Hip arthroscopy with and without a perineal post: A comparison of early postoperative pain
Arthroscopy Apr 03, 2021
Schaver AL, Mattingly N, Glass NA, et al. - Researchers conducted a retrospective review of a consecutive series of patients who underwent hip arthroscopy before and after adoption of a postless technique with the aim to compare postoperative pain and early recovery after hip arthroscopy with and without a perineal post for joint distraction. Each group comprised 100 patients. Findings revealed no prolonged operating room or operative time in correlation with adoption of the postless technique. Overall, similar postoperative pain was recorded for the two groups, however, the postless group had a shorter time from surgery to hospital discharge.
