Higher transplacental pathogen-specific antibody transfer among pregnant women randomized to triple antiretroviral treatment vs short course zidovudine
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal Feb 27, 2018
Bosire R, et al. - The intention of the researchers was to determine the consequences of highly active antiretroviral treatment (ART) given during pregnancy on transplacental antibody transport. It was determined that a woman’s levels of antibodies before delivery served as a significant predictor of the amount transferred to her infant, for all antibodies. The inference drawn was that women on triple ART transferred higher levels of pathogen-specific antibodies than women on zidovudine (ZDV) alone.
