Higher non-HDL-cholesterol to HDL-cholesterol ratio linked with increased nonalcoholic steatohepatitis
Lipids in Health and Disease Apr 15, 2018
Wang D, et al. - Experts examined the predictive role of non-HDL-cholesterol to HDL-cholesterol (non-HDL-c/HDL-c) ratio in subjects with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), as well as the correlations between non-HDL-c/HDL-c ratio and serum aminotransferase levels. A positive link was illustrated between the prevalence of NASH with the elevation of non-HDL-c/HDL-c ratio. There was a 1.8-fold increased risk of NASH among subjects with higher non-HDL-c/HDL-c ratio. Thus, non-HDL-c/HDL-c ratio possibly served as a feasible predictor for NASH.
