High-sensitivity cardiac troponin and natriuretic peptide with risk of lower-extremity peripheral artery disease: The Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study
European Heart Journal Mar 28, 2018
Matsushita K, et al. - An inquiry was set with regard to the tie-up between high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) with peripheral artery disease (PAD) incidence. This study also examined if natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), another representative cardiac marker, speculated the PAD risk. An independent connection was brought to light between high-sensitivity cTnT and NT-proBNP with incident PAD, especially its severe form, critical limb ischaemia (CLI). Findings demonstrated the usefulness of cardiac markers for detecting subjects at high risk of CLI.
