High school start time and migraine frequency in high school students
Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain Jul 12, 2019
Gelfand AA, et al. - In this cross-sectional observational study with 256 students, researchers explored whether a later high school start time was correlated with lower migraine frequency in high school students with migraine. Using social media, participants were recruited nationally. For this investigation, they assessed respondents attending high schools starting at 8:30 a.m. or later vs those attending earlier start time schools. In high schoolers with migraine, investigators found that high school start time does not have a significant impact on the frequency of headache and sleep hours did not correlate with the days of headache per month. A larger study is needed to explore if starting high school at/after 8:30 am could offer a small effect.
