High risk clinical features for acute aortic dissection: A case–control study
Academic Emergency Medicine Apr 11, 2018
Ohle R, et al. - Researchers aimed at assessing the diagnostic accuracy of clinical and laboratory findings for acute aortic dissection (AAD), in confirmed cases of AAD and in a low-risk control group. They noted that absence of abrupt-onset pain can help rule out AAD. Presence of tearing/ripping pain, aortic aneurysm, hypotension, pulse deficit, neurologic deficits, and a new murmur can help rule in the diagnosis of AAD. They recommended considering patients with one or more high-risk feature at high risk, however, patients with no high-risk and multiple low-risk features were observed to be at lower risk for AAD.
