High prevalence of liver fibrosis among European adults with unknown liver disease. A population-based study

Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology Feb 19, 2018

Caballeria L, et al. - The prevalence of liver fibrosis was examined in the general adult population with unknown liver disease. A high prevalence of silent liver disease with advanced fibrosis mainly associated with NAFLD was demonstrated in adult European subjects without known liver disease. The absence of significant liver fibrosis with high accuracy was predicted by a value of liver stiffness (LS)<9.2kPa. This value could be used for screening purposes.
