High prevalence of hidradenitis suppurativa in axial spondyloarthritis patients: A possible new extra-articular manifestation
Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism Mar 25, 2018
Rondags A, et al. - Authors sought to determine the prevalence of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (SpA) (a subtype of SpA primarily of the axial skeleton). They also identified the patient characteristics associated with the presence of HS in axial SpA. Findings suggested that HS was more prevalent in the patients with SpA than in the general population (9.1% vs 0.053-4.1%). The characteristics that were found to be related to HS included female gender, lower QoL, and especially higher axial SpA disease activity.
