High prevalence of developmental concern amongst infants at 12 months following hospitalised parechovirus infection

Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health Oct 05, 2017

Britton PN, et al. - The intent here was to contemplate the neurodevelopmental outcome and quality of life in infants following hospitalised human parechovirus (HPeV) infection. A maximum number of infants exhibited developmental concern at 12-month follow-up post-hospitalisation with HPeV infection. There was no link between the clinical features during hospitalisation with adverse outcomes at 12 months. Hence, careful follow-up was suggested of young infants hospitalised with HPeV disease.
