High prevalence of co-infection between human papillomavirus (HPV) 51 and 52 in Mexican population

Gallegos–Bolaños J, et al. – An analysis was designed to test the mono– and co– infection prevalence of multiple human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes, and to examine the preferential interactions among them in a Mexico City sample population. As per the findings, the co–infection was very common. For co–infection with other genotypes, each HPV genotype showed different preferences. The most frequent co–infection was HPV 51Â52. Experts outlined the HPV 16, 33, 51 and 52 as the most prevalent and a public health concern to the Mexican population.
