High negative predictive value of normal body mass index for obstructive sleep apnea in the lateral sleeping position
Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine Jun 20, 2018
Mokros L, et al. - In this retrospective and prospective study, the researchers investigated a negative predictive value of normal body mass index (BMI) for sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in relation to sleep positions, subsequently characterizing a group of patients who could be treated by positional intervention, and prioritizing the use of polysomnography diagnostics. Findings revealed that in the lateral sleeping position, normal BMI offered a high negative predictive value for moderate or severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
