High levels of serum adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein predict cardiovascular events in coronary artery disease patients
International Journal of Medical Sciences Dec 19, 2018
Huang IC, et al. - Researchers analyzed 106 coronary artery disease (CAD) cases to study the relationship between serum adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein levels (A-FABP) and future cardiovascular (CV) events in subjects with CAD. They recorded raised systolic blood pressure, total serum cholesterol, and serum A-FABP levels in participants with CV compared to candidates without CV events and a higher incidence of CV events was observed by using Kaplan-Meier analysis in the high A-FABP group than a low A-FABP group. Triglycerides and serum A-FABP levels were found independently linked to CV events. They indicated serum A-FABP level as a reliable biomarker for future CV events in subjects with CAD.
