Hamada SR, et al. - This study was performed on critically ill trauma patients in order to assess the prevalence, incidence and risk factors for deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) in these patients, in the setting of a mature and early mechanical and pharmacological thromboprophylaxis protocol. A high incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) was reported in this patient population despite a rigorous, protocol-driven thromboprophylaxis.
