High level of satisfaction among women who underwent oocyte retrieval without anesthesia
Fertility and Sterility Jul 18, 2020
Greenberger C, Idit Matot I, Artsi H, et al. - Women undergoing transvaginal oocyte retrieval (TOR) without anesthesia were assessed for the level of satisfaction. In addition, the gynecologists were assessed for their comfort regarding the procedure. From July 2017 to January 2018, 500 TORs were performed. Of these, 402 (80%) were screened for study eligibility. Overall, analysis was performed on data from 50 eligible women who had their first in vitro fertilization cycle (participating in the study) without anesthesia. Observations suggest the feasibility of performing TOR without anesthesia, with a relatively high satisfaction rate from both patients and gynecologists, implying that consideration should be given to TOR in selected women.
