High flow nasal cannulae oxygen therapy in acute-moderate hypercapnic respiratory failure

Lee MK, et al. - Two management strategies for severe acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) were compared herein viz high flow nasal cannulae (HFNC) therapy vs non-invasive ventilation (NIV). In this prospective observational trial, it was shown that both HFNC and NIV afforded no different 30-day mortality and intubation rate.
