High expression of long non-coding RNA MALAT1 in breast cancer is associated with poor relapse-free survival
Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Aug 08, 2018
Wang Z, et al. - In the present study, researchers analyzed metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) expression in breast cancer relative to disease characteristics and survival by using quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) to measure MALAT1 expression in tumor samples of 509 breast cancer subjects. Compared to patients with high-grade or ER-negative tumors, patients with low-grade or ER-positive tumors had higher expression of MALAT1. As compared to patients with PR-negative tumors, patients with PR-positive tumors had higher MALAT1 expression. The findings from the present study suggested that high expression of lncRNA MALAT1 was correlated with relapse in breast cancer and could be a factor in tumor progression.
