Lipids in Health and Disease | Nov 16, 2017
Qiu C, et al. - The intent of the authors was to determine the predictive value of cholesterol efflux capacity (CEC) for cardiovascular risk. The results shed light on an inverse link between high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-mediated CEC with cardiovascular risk. It appeared to be independent of HDL concentration. The emerging comprehension of CEC and its role in cardiovascular risk decrease could bring about an improvement in the accuracy of cardiovascular risk prediction. Additionally, it opened significant avenues to develop novel therapeutic targeting HDL metabolism.
