High and low estimated glomerular filtration rates are associated with adverse outcomes in patients undergoing surgery for gastrointestinal malignancies
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation May 02, 2018
Ui T, et al. - Authors assessed the relationship of high estimated glomerular filtration rates (eGFRs) with surgical outcomes in patients who underwent surgery for gastrointestinal malignancies. As per the findings, in patients who underwent surgery for gastrointestinal malignancies, high and low eGFRs were related to more adverse surgical outcomes. Experts noted that eGFR related to the lowest postoperative risk was approximately at the median eGFR of a given population. For other surgical outcomes including return to the operating room and postoperative pneumonia, similar associations were shown.
