International Journal of Dermatology Sep 17, 2019
Andersen PL, et al. - During January 2007–April 2015, researchers conducted a cross-sectional observational study to describe the clinical presentation of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) in overweight and obese children and adolescents. For this investigation, overweight and obese patients (aged 5 to 17 years) referred to The Children’s Obesity Clinic, Department of Paediatrics, Copenhagen University Hospital Holbæk, Denmark, had screening for dermatological conditions. The study sample consisted of 195 children and adolescents who underwent screening for dermatological conditions. According to results, four of the five patients reported tobacco exposure, a positive family history of HS, and showed psychiatric comorbidities. The presence of pediatric HS was associated with the familial disposition to HS and psychiatric comorbidities was supported in this analysis.
