Hidradenitis suppurativa associated with down syndrome is characterized by early age at diagnosis
Dermatology Apr 28, 2018
Giovanardi G, et al. - Researchers assessed the prevalence of Down syndrome (DS) among a population of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) patients and evaluated their clinical features. The demographic and clinical data of patients affected with HS referred to 3 Italian outpatient dermatology clinics was collected. Authors noted the patients with DS and HS to have the significantly earlier age of onset, a significantly younger age at diagnosis and were significantly younger. Findings suggested that in HS patients the prevalence of DS corresponded to a not negligible 3.5% of cases, who experienced an onset of HS at a younger age vs patients with HS only.
