Hidradenitis suppurativa and metabolic syndrome – Systematic review and adjusted meta-analysis
International Journal of Dermatology Jun 06, 2019
Phan K, et al. - Through an adjusted meta-analysis of case-control studies, researchers ascertained if hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a chronic systemic inflammatory skin disease, is independently correlated with metabolic syndrome. According to PRISMA guidelines, a systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted. Six case-control studies were identified for meta-analysis. Adult cases of HS were significantly correlated with metabolic syndrome on unadjusted analysis. According to this pooled analysis of existing case-control studies, an association between HS and metabolic syndrome was supported, and this relationship should be recognized by clinicians treating HS patients.
