Hidradenitis suppurativa and electrocardiographic changes: A cross-sectional population study
British Journal of Dermatology Jan 26, 2018
Juhl CR, et al. - Since Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) correlated with several factors that increased the risk of cardiovascular disease (smoking, obesity, metabolic syndrome and systemic inflammation) leading to the development of cardiovascular disease, experts analyzed this possible cardiovascular burden linked with HS influence on the heart's electrical activity. Results exhibited an interconnection between severe HS with a higher resting heart rate. As a result of resting heart rate correlating with increased mortality, and HS patients reporting an increased risk of cardiovascular issues, this data was potentially significant, easily testable and allowed for treatment.
