Hepatocellular carcinoma with en bloc diaphragmatic resection: A single-center experience over 14 years

Liu YC, et al. - A retrospective evaluation of the clinical characteristics and surgical results of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients undergoing hepatectomy plus diaphragmatic resection was conducted. Acceptable morbidity and mortality with en bloc resection of the diaphragm was shown. Between HCC patients with diaphragmatic invasion or diaphragmatic fibrous adhesions, no difference in OS and DFS was evident. Therefore, it was recommended to perform en bloc diaphragmatic resection when HCC patients present with gross diaphragmatic involvement.
