Hepatocarcinogenesis is associated with serum albumin levels after sustained virological responses with interferon-based therapy in patients with hepatitis C
Digestive Diseases Oct 30, 2017
Umehara Y, et al. - The authors performed this study to explore whether the hepatocarcinogenesis was associated with serum albumin levels after sustained virological responses (SVRs) with interferon (IFN)-based therapy in patients with hepatitis C. After SVR achievement, hepatic carcinogenesis needed to be considered in patients with a serum ALB level < 4.0 g/dL before IFN therapy. Moreover, the serum albumin (ALB) level could be more useful compared to the degree of fibrosis for the prediction of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after SVR in chronic hepatitis C.
