Xiang AH, Chow T, Martinez MP, et al. - Via a study, researchers built upon prior observations by investigating the correlation between maternal hemoglobin A1c levels during pregnancy and risk of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) in offspring. Maternal preexisting type 1, type 2, or gestational diabetes diagnosed moderately early in pregnancy were related to a heightened risk for ASDs in offspring.
