Hemodialysis is associated with higher serum FGF23 level when compared with peritoneal dialysis

Shuhong Bi, et al. – The influence of dialysis modality (peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis) on level of fibroblast growth factor–23 (FGF23) was explored. As compared to peritoneal dialysis patients, FGF23 levels were significantly higher in hemodialysis patients. Independent of classical determinants (serum calcium and phosphate level), dialysis modality (HD vs CAPD) was linked to higher FGF23.
