Hematoma block or procedural sedation and analgesia, which is the most effective method of anesthesia in reduction of displaced distal radius fracture?
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Apr 03, 2018
Tseng PT, et al. - Researchers drew a comparison between hematoma block (HB) and procedural sedation and analgesia (PSA) to identify the level of pain relief, the frequency of adverse effects (AEs), and reduction failure in adult and pediatric patients during reduction of displaced distal radius fracture by searching the PubMed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov. Among adult and pediatric patients, for the reduction of distal radius fracture, hematoma block was a safe and effective alternative to anesthesia vs with PSA without inferior pain relief.
