Heated humidified high-flow nasal oxygen prevents intraoperative body temperature decrease in non-intubated thoracoscopy

Journal of Anesthesia Oct 18, 2018

Lai CJ, et al. - Researchers gauged the transnasal humidified rapid-insufflation ventilatory exchange (THRIVE) effects on intraoperative temperature decrease in non-intubated thoracoscopy. Particularly in old patients, intraoperative temperature decrease during non-intubated video-assisted thoracic surgery (NIVATS) is effectively prevented with THRIVE. They noted an association of significant temperature decrease with advanced age, but not the anesthetic duration, according to the multiple linear regression analysis. Findings suggested an association of using THRIVE with significantly less body temperature decrease.
