Sell H, et al. - Authors aimed at determining the effect of bariatric surgery on circulating concentrations of heat shock protein 60 (Hsp60) in morbid obesity and their correlation with inflammation and metabolic and cardiovascular risk. In morbid obesity, Hsp60 concentrations were elevated and surgery-induced weight loss resulted in their decrease. Their correlation with inflammatory markers and cardiovascular risk could associate obesity and cardiovascular disease.
