Hearing thresholds in adult Nigerians with diabetes mellitus: A case–control study

Nwosu JN, et al. – The physicians conducted this work to determine the frequency, types and severity of hearing loss and correlated factors in a hospital population of adult Nigerians with diabetes mellitus. It was showed that the frequency of hearing loss among diabetic adults at university of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, is comparatively high. It was earing loss is predominantly sensorineural and often mild to moderate in severity. It was demonstrated that routine audiometric evaluation of all adult diabetics at university of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) is recommended.
