Health-related quality of life in locally advanced cervical cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant therapy followed by radical surgery: A single-institutional retrospective study from a prospective database
Gynecologic Oncology Jul 18, 2019
Liu B, et al. - Using a prospective database, researchers examined data from patients who received neoadjuvant concurrent chemoradiation (CCRT) or radiation (RT) alone followed by radical surgery (RS) for locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) to assess health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in these patients in this single-center retrospective study. In LACC patients, improvement in QLQ-C30 functioning and tumor-related symptoms scores, along with worsening of lymphedema and menopausal symptoms was seen 6 months post-neoadjuvant CCRT or RT alone followed by RS. A largely better HRQOL was observed in patients treated with RT + RS vs those receiving CCRT+RS.
