Fan Q, et al. - The specialists undertook this work to evaluate the association between high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels and risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Accumulated evidence displayed that the high levels of plasma HDL-C were causally related to an increased risk for advanced AMD in European and Asian populations. Thus, new strategies were required to reduce HDL-C levels.
