HDL-C, longitudinal change and risk of mortality in a Chinese cohort study
Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases Jun 24, 2021
Yang ZM, Wu MY, Lu JM, et al. - Researchers investigated the connections of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and longitudinal alteration in HDL-C with the risk of mortality among 69,163 participants aged ≥ 40 years who had medical examination records of HDL-C during 2010-2014 from the Yinzhou District, Ningbo, China. They employed Cox proportional hazards regression models to estimate hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals. Findings demonstrated a higher risk of cause-specific mortality in relation to the following: extremely low or high HDL-C and a large decrease or very large decrease in HDL-C. Persons at higher risk of mortality may be identified through HDL-C monitoring.
