Haemodynamic stability after paracervical block: A randomized, controlled, double-blind study comparing bupivacaine-adrenaline with bupivacaine
Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Sep 14, 2018
Sjoeen GH, et al. - A paracervical block was administered in 30 healthy women scheduled for cervical conisation using bupivacaine 50 mg with adrenaline 100 μg (BA-group, n = 14) or without adrenaline, (B-group, n = 16) following induction of general anesthesia to assess hemodynamic stability afterwards. In healthy females, findings suggested hemodynamic instability after paracervical block with bupivacaine 50 mg and adrenaline 100 μg was possible, and if hemodynamic side effects are to be avoided this treatment is not recommended. After 70-90 seconds, cardiac output increased 68%, heart rate increased 41%, and stroke volume increased 26% from baseline to maximal values in the BA-group.
