Group B streptococcal cellulitis and necrotizing fasciitis in infants: A systematic review
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal Aug 19, 2018
Wojtera M, et al. - In this systematic review, researchers presented a case of group B streptococcal (GBS) necrotizing cellulitis as well as reviewed the literature regarding the presentation and management of infantile head and neck GBS cellulitis and necrotizing fasciitis. By 2 independent review authors, the literature was searched using PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE and Medline (inception to April 2017). The findings from the present study suggested that skin and soft tissue involvement was an uncommon manifestation of late-onset GBS infection which needs antibiotic therapy and possibly surgical debridement cases with necrotizing fasciitis.
