Gout and hearing impairment in the elderly: A retrospective cohort study using the US Medicare claims data

Singh JA, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study, experts explored whether gout was linked to a higher risk of hearing loss in older adults. They utilized the 5% Medicare claims data from 2006 to 2012. Participants in the study were adults aged 65 years or older. Findings suggested an association of gout with a higher risk of hearing loss in the elderly, independent of demographic, comorbidities and use of common medications.
