Glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase 1 promotes tumor cell migration and poor survival in ovarian carcinoma
Cancer Research Aug 21, 2017
Summary - In the current study, glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase 1 (GPAM) was shown to influence intracellular lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) levels to promote cell migration and ovarian cancer growth.
Methods
GPAM and choline kinase-alpha (CHKA) were studied to determine which downstream pathway is relevant for migration of ovarian cancer.
Results
A significant association was shown between high GPAM expression and reduced overall survival in ovarian cancer.
Silencing GPAM in ovarian cancer cells decreased cell migration and reduced tumor xenograft growth.
