Glucose patterns during an oral glucose tolerance test and associations with future diabetes, cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality rate
Diabetologia - Clinical and Experimental Diabetes and Metabolism Dec 10, 2017
Hulman A, et al. - In this study, experts sought to identify the heterogeneity of glycaemic patterns based on 3-time points during an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and to compare the incidences of diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) and all-cause mortality rates among those with different patterns. An association was observed between elevated 30 min glucose with an increased risk of diabetes and all-cause mortality rate independent of fasting and 2 h glucose levels. Thus, when considering only fasting and 2 h glucose levels during an OGTT, subgroups at high risk could not be revealed.
