Glucose abnormalities detected by continuous glucose monitoring are common in young children with cystic fibrosis
Journal of Cystic Fibrosis Mar 04, 2020
Prentice BJ, et al. - Researchers sought to determine if young children with CF < 10 years of age exhibit persistence of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) abnormalities. Eleven CF children (1 female) initially aged mean (SD) 3.8 (2.5) years underwent 3-day CGM at baseline, 12 months, and 24 months. High glucose levels were evident in CGM for most children with CF < 10 years of age; these levels fluctuate over time. The analysis revealed normal CGM only in three (3/11, 27%) at all time-points. Almost three-quarters of the participants had at least one CGM with more than 4.5% of the time in the impaired range.
