European Urology Sep 25, 2020
Teoh JYC, Huang J, Ko WYK, et al. - Researchers performed gender-specific incidence and mortality patterns, and trends of bladder cancer from a global perspective. They further evaluated their relationships with tobacco use and gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. They collected data on the incidence and mortality of bladder cancer from the GLOBOCAN database, They retrieved data on GDP per capita from the United Nations Human Development Report. The observable trends of bladder cancer incidence and mortality globally were found. It was shown that tobacco use was significantly correlated with both bladder cancer incidence and mortality. It was shown that a certain level of economic capacity might be required to further reduce bladder cancer mortality in countries with a decreasing trend of tobacco use.
