JAMA Pediatrics Aug 25, 2017
Lange S, et al. – This article explored the global prevalence of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) among children and youth in the general population. Accumulated data represented that globally, FASD was a prevalent alcohol–related developmental disability that was largely preventable. These findings indicated the need for a universal public health message about the potential harm of prenatal alcohol exposure and a routine screening protocol. However, brief interventions should be implemented, where appropriate.
