Global incidence comparisons and trends in ovarian germ cell tumors by geographic region in girls, adolescents and young women: 1988–2012
Gynecologic Oncology Jul 17, 2019
Hubbard AK, et al. - Via extracting data from Cancer Incidence in 5 Continents (CI5) from 1988 to 2012, researchers assessed geographic variation in ovarian germ cell tumors (OGCT) incidence and identified trends in incidence rates. OGCT rates in women and girls were calculated for ages 0–9, 10–19, and 20–39 years and standardized to the 2000–2025 average world population. Overall, in 10–19 years of age, the highest incidence rates were noted. Evaluating 25 years of OGCT incidence data, Eastern Asia has seen the highest incidence rates and the largest incidence increases. There was more variability in adolescents and young adults' international incidence rates than in children.
