Gestational age at birth and wheezing trajectories at 3–11 years
Archives of Diseases in Childhood Jun 06, 2018
Leps C, et al. - This is the first study investigating the relationship between gestational age group and wheezing trajectories in children born preterm. This study draws on data from the UK Millennium Cohort Study which enrolled children at 9 months, with follow-up at 3, 5, 7 and 11 years. Results revealed that birth at 37–38 weeks was not linked with wheeze nor asthma medication use. The findings from the present study suggested that birth <37 weeks was a risk factor for wheezing characterised as ‘early-remittent’ or ‘persistent/relapsing’ wheeze.
