Geriatric nutritional risk index as a prognostic indicator in elderly patients with early colorectal cancer undergoing endoscopic submucosal dissection
Digestive Endoscopy Jul 28, 2021
Kato M, Hayashi Y, Fukuda H, et al. - By conducting this retrospective study, researchers assessed prognosis of elderly colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, from the perspective of treatment curability as well as from the patients’ baseline physical condition evaluated by various indexes. This study involved 729 patients aged ≥ 75 years who had endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for Tis/T1 CRC in 16 institutions. Findings revealed an independent association of low geriatric nutritional risk index, but not of the curability attained by ESD, with decreased overall survival in patients with early CRC aged ≥ 75 years.
