Genome-wide analysis of Epstein-Barr Virus isolated from extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type

The Oncologist Apr 06, 2019

Lin N, et al. - In this study, authors evaluated the role of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) strains in the pathogenesis of natural killer (NK) cell/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL), a rare type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. They observed a close resemblance between NKTCL-EBVs and the GD1 strain, but with 2,072 variations, including 1,938 substitutions, 58 insertions, and 76 deletions vs the 6 mostly referenced EBV strains. They also found the location of most of the nonsynonymous mutations in latent and tegument genes. Impact of changes in CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell epitopes of EBNA1 and LMP1 was reported on the effectiveness for a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL)-based therapy.
